    3. As a student at St. Peters School in the 60's some of the girls were required to go to the Little Sisters of the Poor mone on 9th St and volunteer to help out, I often served meals, pushed residents in wheelchairs around and sometimes just sat and visited with them. It was dismal to me as a young girl but the residents always seemed content and well cared for. Little Sisters ofthe Poor The Little Sisters of the Poor, used to have a very large facility on Ninth Street in Troy. In the forties and fifties,my grandmother,Mary Delaney Callahan used to volunteer over there, brushing the hair of the infirm and washing their faces. She seemed to feel that people got fairly good care there. I believe that they are now relocated somewhere in Latham....Mimi ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2012 8:01 PM Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Religious sisters ...
