Hello TIGS--I am a new member and happy to find you. I am joining on behalf of Catherine Armstrong, born in Maguires Bridge Northern Ireland and died in Troy, Oct. 22, 1881; buried at Mt. Ida. I believe "bumping into" Catherine as I was strolling through the cemetery will lead me to an interesting story. Her gravestone is the tallest in the cemetery and has no family on it--just her with the words "Erected by Herself". I want to find out how and why she came to erect her own headstone! I found some Armstrongs in Maguires Bridge on Facebook and am trying to connect with them. I have seen her obit and the cemetery death record. All this is new to me but I am compelled to learn about her. >From the obit, I learned that she died at the home of an unnamed niece who lived at 71 Thirteenth St. in Troy.
