Hi list, I was looking into my sister's Luke inlaws and found a useful old family history that listed her husbands immigrant ancestor. The family history book was "Hardy and Hardie, Past and Present, 1935", by unknown. It listed at the bottom of the page a source for the Daniel Luke (1801-1883, md Amelia Hardy 1830 Andover Mass.) family that they listed as "140. see Ash MacNeil Moore Traditions" NO author given, or date or place of publication as there were for many of the references. I didn't see any additional list of footnoted sources in the book. Supposedly Daniel Luke's mothers name was Lady Mary MacNeil, and his uncle who financed his travels was Sir John Ash, and the family was from Edinburgh Scotland where Daniel Luke went to university for the ministry. The university had no record of his graduation. Daniel Luke was however born in Antrim, Ireland. I tried to locate this cited source first using Google, then the LOC index, then the LDS catalog but saw nothing close to this including close spellings (Ashe, McNeil) but saw nothing. These were New England families from Massachusetts in the Andover area. I thought maybe the NEHGS ( I am not a member) might have it, but I didn't see it listed, only separate Ash and MacNeil family books listed in their index. Also, apparently the name Luke is affiliated with the Lamont Clan. I also emailed the local Edinburgh Genealogical society to ask. Any one have an idea how to locate this "Ash MacNeil Moore Traditions" source, which I assume is an old hand typed family vanity history from somewhere in New England? Thanks, Michael
