Hi Michael. Some years ago I received a coroner's report for my maternal g.father. He was killed in an accident in Chicago (Cook County) in 1895. Illinois has excellent on-line resources, and I was able to enter his name and get the case number, etc. Then all I had to do was send for the report. There was no charge for this, as the work is done through the Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD). I think there would be a fee if the copying involved many, many pages. Mine was only two pages. I don't know if NY has anything like this, but you could start by googling the NY State Archives (if it's in NY that you're looking) to see what they have. Someone with more NY research experience will probably be able to give you more help. I was watching a 'who do you think you are' that I dvr'd a while ago, about Jason Sudekis. In it they referenced two different coroners inquests that appeared to be quite detailed. Has anyone ever gotten a coroners inquest from a municipality and/ or would anyone know how to go about getting one, for the 1900s. thanks, Michael ======= Email scanned by PC Tools - No viruses or spyware found.
