Kelly wrote a much admired book on the Black Death and the praise in the blurbs on the rear of the book is substantial and from the likes of Douglas Brinkley, Amanda Foreman, John Barry and President Clinton. But there are a couple of Amazon reviewers who think it lets the Brits off too easily. FYI, I had a message that Amazon shipped my copy a couple of days ago, they said I'd have it by Monday. I ordered it in the first week of July, so I'm glad to learn it's finally available. I have been looking forward to it for some time. Archeologist Charles Orser of the NY State museum in Albany has a piece on Ballykilcline in it, I believe. Plus, so many famine scholars are represented in its pages! I think reading it will help keep me up to date with current thought and study of the Famine years and their far-reaching effects, including those of emigration.
