    3. Pat, As always you are the Lady with the answers. So.... If in 1843 William and Grace Walls immigrate to the U.S. with 9 kids born between 1827 and 1843, can I assume that all of hem become citizens after being here for 5 years, even those who turn 21 before the 5 year period. The rule says "Alien minors were naturalized upon reaching 21 years of age if they had lived in the US continuously for five years." Did his children have > to be naturalized individually or did his taking his oath include them? > Jim, rules changed over time, here is a site I did years ago. It covers the rules: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nyrenss2/naturalization/#nat%20history As you probably have seen, I have been transcribing the Albany County natualization Declaration of Intentions of those that mention the county of birth in Ireland. I have two films covering years 1842 thru 1854. I will then be getting the next films till end of 1860s. Plus, they all have indexes before the records. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com ===NY-IRISH-GENSOC Mailing List=== Time for Society Members to pay up their **2012 Dues**.
