Perhaps they died at the home of their adult children,in another city, or at a hospital in a nearby town. Try directories and and newspapers in Troy and other cities where they once lived. for obits.KS ----- Original Message ----- From: "Avi Lichtenstein" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, April 22, 2012 11:55 PM Subject: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] New to Troy Research Hello, my name is Avi, and I just recently subscribed to the list. My great-grandmother Bella Goldstein was born in Troy or thereabouts in 1897. Her father died in 1903, and afterwards her mother moved the family to New York City. It looks like she had a very sizable extended family of Goldsteins who remained in Troy, including her grandparents. I was able to get pictures of the graves of my great-grandmother's father and her grandparents, but I have thus far had only limited success in getting any records pertaining to their deaths. I was able to get the grandfather's death certificate and letter of administration, but that is about it. When I wrote to Troy City Hall for death certificates for my gggf and ggggm, none were on file. Both were living in Troy at the time of their deaths, but I do not know where they died. I am not sure what my next step should be in my search. If anyone has any suggestions, I would be most appreciative. All my family members were buried at the Bethel Cemetery, which as far as I can tell, does not have any kind of office or place to contact. Don't discount any possibility. In 1948 my cousin who lived in Los Angeles was on his way to perform his stage act in Montana, fell ill and died in Salt Lake City. UT death cert, burial in CA. More recently another cousin who lived in Cheyenne, WY went to Colorado for medical treatment where he died. CO death cert, WY burial, but SSDI shows NY.
