    3. The NYS vital records indexes are at the NYS Archives in Albany. They are on microfiche. If you can find someone to check them for you, they can locate the record and drop off a records request form and $22 payment right at the Archives in the dropbox. These are picked up every afternoon. The certificate will arrive in 2-3 weeks. Dennis Marr In a message dated 9/6/2014 3:35:43 A.M. This lady is a real fan of TIGS and has only praise for the projects we undertake, I hope we can give her some help and/or direction Thanks Kristin Cooney-Ayotte I noticed your name in associationwith the Troy Irish Genealogical Society and the project of indexing marriagesfrom 1908-1930's. What a great help to the genealogist. Too bad they don't havea link on the city of Troy homepage. I see births and deaths at the bottom. I have been taking a couple ofgenealogy refresher courses recently. I started back in 1984 with no Internet. Ihave made many trips to the Archives in DC during the 80's. I wanted to catchup on what I may have missed with Internet sites and it really can beoverwhelming. The reason I am writing is I'mwondering if you can give some advice for a record that my husband and I havelong ago searched for but can't seem to find. It is a marriage license of hisgrandparents: Jan/John STACHURA and Caroline/Karolina GAWRON. They camefrom Poland and went to St. Michael's in Cohoes since there was no Polishchurch in Troy. We went to the church a while ago and the priest looked itup but could not find any record. He did find the baptism of their first child,Anna, July 4, 1904. I found Karolina on a passenger listarriving March 10, 1903 at the age of 16. Even if there was a churchrecord, did there have to be a civil record also? If something happened to thechurch record I thought there might be another place it was recorded. So mythought is either in Cohoes or Troy. I know one can submit a search at the NYDept of Health but it said it would take 8 months and better to go to thecourthouse. I get the impression that they don't allow the public to search theselocal records. Something else I just thought of isthat she would not have turned 18 until May 10, 1904 two months before Anna'sbirth. What happens if someone is a minor? My grandmother was under theage of 18 in PA and had to have a guardian in order to get married. I don't mind sending in a request toeither Cohoes or Troy but I was just thinking you or someone in your group mighthave some other knowledge or experiences with something like this. Thanks for any thoughts about this puzzle.
