The original Mount Ida Cemetery at the foot of Cypress Street had several headstones identifying people as having been born in Ireland “Mary Fitzsimons wife of Patrick Fitzsimons a native of the County of Down in Ireland died July 9 1828 aged 23 years and 6 months” http://members.tripod.com/~DERBYSHIRE_2/oldtroycem.html In a microfilmed scrapbook in the Troy Public Library, page 26 of a handwritten transcription of the disappeared headstones of the original Mount Ida Cemetery gives the above as: "I. H. S. “Sacred to the memory of Mary Fitzsimmons, wife of Patrick Fitzsimmons, a native of the County of Down, in Ireland, who departed this life July 9, 1828 aged 23 years & 6 mos.” [The Catholic Burying Ground in Lansingburgh (by the Village Burying Ground) wasn’t created until 1829, and the Mount Ida Catholic Cemetery wasn’t created until 1835. - CKP] There’s a little bit more detail throughout. The other entries for Irish: * “Nathaniel Wilson died July 21 1853 born in the County of Tyrone Ireland May 10 1810 aged 43 years 2 months and 11 days “Eliza Ann Wilson daughter of Nathaniel and Jane B Wilson born Nov 26 1833 died Aug 11 1834 aged 1 year 8 months and 23 days” http://members.tripod.com/~DERBYSHIRE_2/oldtroycem.html Page 2: “Erected to the memory of Nathaniel Wilson, by his beloved wife Jane B. Wilson, who departed this life, July 21, 1853 Born in the county Tyrone, Ireland, May 10, 1810, aged 43 years, 2 months and 11 days. Also Eliza Ann Wilson, daughter of Nathaniel and Jane B.
