Chris - Tom Hanley (the archivist at IHM, the consolidated catholic parishes in Watervliet) is very interested. He has family commitments on Sunday, but if mid-week (Tuesday or Wednesday) is a possibility, would like to meet us there. He might be able to find some additional support once he understands what you are proposing to do. Will either of those days work for you? I'm still open to Sunday, but today (unfortunately perfect weather) has been consumed with support for my elderly mother-in-law -C On Wed, Oct 1, 2014 at 9:19 PM, Christopher Philippo via < ny-troy-irish-gensoc@rootsweb.com> wrote: > Date: Tue, 30 Sep 2014 03:24:36 -0400 > From: Christine Connell <christine.connell@gmail.com> > > The ARC cemetery tour originally scheduled for Oct 5 has been postponed, > so I propose Sunday Oct 5 (and/or Friday Oct 3) > > Friday the 3rd is looking better weather-wise, but I’d be happy to be > there both days. > > Chris > ===NY-IRISH-GENSOC Mailing List=== > Time for Society Members to pay up their **2014 Dues**. I spent a few hours there this morning. Trimmed things down a bit around some stones, including: Thomas McCormick (1806-1852) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136545195 Found John Murphy’s original government-issued headstone, so he has two in two different places in the cemetery (plus the third found under a porch): John Murphy (1836-1862) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=74264999 Uncovered several stones, including: Michael Burns (1834-1854) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136752775 a daughter of Peter Donohoe (abt 1850-1850) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136753151 Edward Graulty (1856-1858) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136753035 John Benson (1795-1850) http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136545851 Graulty, as well as the Foly sisters http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=136752856 had their headstones carved by William Toohey of West Troy. A William Toohey of West Troy had been appointed Albany County Coroner in 1872 and West Troy Superintendent of Burial Grounds in 1896. I don’t know if they’re all the same man. Annie M. Toohey (1860-1933), probably a relative, who is buried in St. Agnes Cemetery, had been Watervliet City Historian.
