    3. The Troy Record article on the body in Teal's pond near Taborton really brings back family memories for me. The name Teal was well known to my Miter family as we had for over 90 years a summer camp on the south side of Big Bowman Pond which is at Taborton. I called my Troy resident cousin, Frank, to brush up on some of the details. He said that some of the Teal farm fields were right across Taborton Rd. from our camp. Our family camp was built by my grandfather Frank (Pop) H. Miter in 1914. Prior to building the camp, starting perhaps as early as 1905, he would send his family to stay for the summer at a farm on the west side of Big Bowman owned by (as we recall) a Julius Rheimiller (sp?). They would stay all summer in an attempt to avoid polio. I am almost certain they would have been there in 1908 and were any of the three Miter children still alive, I'm sure one or more would have remembered the 'mystery lady' in Teal's pond. They were unable to completely avoid polio as Uncle Tom (cousin Frank's father) contracted it in 1911, probably after returning to Troy in the fall to go to school. Brad Miter (Wishing the camp had not burned down 30 years ago :( )
