Subject: Plant Sale Spring 2009 At the August meeting a plant sale was discussed and approved as a possible fund raiser for next spring. Since I had mentioned having the sale at a previous meeting they gave me the honor? I was thinking about May 16 or 23, 2009 as a possible date for the sale. Many people are interested in perennials as a good foundation in the garden. September is a great time to divide perennials. Anyone with a garden and the time can start now; spring is also a good time. The plants that are dug in the spring should be ready about two weeks before the sale to let the plants adjust to the container, and look "happy". It takes a lot of time and effort to get enough plants to realize a good profit. We will need volunteers. Perhaps the first Saturday in May (5/2/2009) any interested members could bring their plants to a designated garden, we'll set up an assembly line, and get things ready for the sale, bring your lunch and we'll have a garden party. If you're short on containers, the plants can be put in plastic bags, make sure you give them enough water, and bring them along. Ask your family and neighbors to save containers and share some plants for our sale. It could be both profitable and fun. Please save the date, more details will follow as we approach next spring.
