    2. Tuesday July 15 ,2008 TroyRecord Article 100years agoWednesday July 15 , 1908 “Investigators drain Teals Pond looking for answers to the murder of Hazel Drew whose body was found there recently. The Record writes’ The mountain road is blocked with every kind of conveyance known- automobiles of all grades line the highway, which is narrow, and farm wagons, and high priced city vehicles, runabouts and surreys make up the picture.” The investigators were looking for Hazels suitcase, which she carried on board a Pawling Avenue streetcar on the afternoon of July 6th.The last 2 people who claim they saw her on a Sand Lake Road ,Smith and Gundrum, say she wasn't carrying a suitcase. Subsequent inquires reveal Smith was running an errand for a guest at Crape’s Hotel. DA Jarvis P. O’Brien says that Smith told his mother he met Hazel and told Frank Richmond, a Sand Lake Resident,he met her before the body was even found. It now transpires he was one of the group that took her body from the pond, yet never said anything to anyone else until the following Monday. Jarvis says he is not accusing Smith of anything.” Photo of the day Troy Record Tuesday July 15, 2008 1949 photo of Troy Fire Captain William B.
