Friday July 11, 2008 TroyRecord Article 100years agoSaturday July 11 , 1908 “Frank Lamotte,31, a Cohoes laborer living at 22 Orchard Street is deemed a suicide after being arrested. LaMotte was arrested after his wife complained to police about his behavior during an apparent drunken binge. He is examined by Dr William Curtin in the jail cell and appears to go berserk afterwards. The doctor is brought back and determines he died of a heart attack brought on by alcoholism and extreme excitement. Investigators are trying to determine the identity of the woman whose body is found by Gilbert Miller while driving a carriage past a pond at Conrad Teals farm. The farm is located in a very lonesome and secluded part of the town of Sand Lake and Taborton.A woman's hat and gloves are found on a bank of the pond.An autopsy is scheduled. In going through the belongings of my late aunt, Mary Agnes Carey, I have found several prayer cards for people who are not related to my family.
