Tuesday August 19 ,2008 TroyRecord Article 100years agoWednesday August 19 , 1908 “Beyond the age of 3 score and 10(70) Patrick Partland walked into police court and tells Magistrate Abbott Jones his son Joseph has abused him again and injured him so badly he is afraid to live in the house. He wants his son sent away but did not want to see him suffer. The son said he had a few more days to work in the city but the magistrate tells him to give up the job and leave town today before noon. Jones dismisses a case against Michael Sullivan who was found sleeping on a stoop by Officer Preston ,since he has not seen Sullivan in court in over a year. Another case involves John Hopkins who came from Saratoga to ship a horse by boat to New York City. He put the horse on board and then went visiting, only remembering some drinking and being hit by something. Magistrate Jones determines it was a fist and tells him to go to his relatives residing in Troy and have his facial wounds dressed by them.” **************Life should be easier.
