Kern of Indiana accepts the Democratic vice presidential nomination. Kern delivers his acceptance speech at a newly built coliseum on the Indiana State Fairgrounds that holds around 15,000. The traction lines and fourteen railroads brought the people on regular and special trains. 500 cars transported the crowds from the city to the fairgrounds and back.Kern, in his acceptance speech abides by the custom of his time by disclaiming any political ambition. Republican nominee Howard Taft steals some headlines by releasing a record called “ A Little Sermon in a Phonograph.
