Friday June 20, 2008 TroyRecord Article 100years agoSaturday June 20 ,, 1908 “Northern Budget reports the arrest of Thomas Ryan as he attempted to sell stolen goods today at a second hand shop. The goods were taken at Clarks blacksmith shop on Feb 15 and Chambers harness shop on March 20 totaling $125.00. Ryan says William Lowell , living at 188 Earl Street gave him the goods to sell. Detectives Conley and Lynch arrive at 188 Earl shortly after Lowell has turned over his paycheck to his wife , keeping only pocket change.The 31 year old Lowell confesses to them. They report he has never been in trouble before and is considered by his neighbors to be honest and hard working.
