Dear Listers, I am looking for any descendants of this MINAHAN family. I am related to Minahan/Minehan's of S. Troy, and I think this family is somehow connected. Here is the info I have on these families to see if it rings any bells. >Children of James and Ellen (or Helen) WARD Minahan; Both were born in Ireland - don't know where, and I do not believe they came to Troy. These children did; > >1. William Minahan(1840-1903) married Julia WADE (1843-1921) they lived at 512 Second St. beginning in 1869 to Julia's death. Their children: Jennie (or Jane) married Thomas WHALEY lived on James St. in Green Island, Michael b:1969-12/1870, James b:1869-12/1896, Nellie b:9/1871, Elizabeth b: 8/1873, William b: 1875, John b: 1877, Timothy b: 8/1879, Julia b: 6/1882, Thomas b: 6/1887. Either Nellie or Julia became a Sister of St. Joseph. > >2. James Minahan(1834-1868) married Margaret (?) Minahan (1835-1873) Had children: John (1855-1891), Ellen (1857-1905) married James WARD, Elizabeth 1860-1901 married KENNEDY, James 1862-1900, William 1863-1896, Daniel J. abt 1866-1929; married Mary Fogarty, Daniel J. Minahan was a famous baseball player in New York teams, Catherine abt. 1865-1889, Margaret (or Mary) abt. 1867/1868 > >3. Catherine Minahan (1835-1915) married James COLLOPY (1827-1906) Children: Margaret Collopy; married Connery, Catherine Collopy; married Ryan, Timothy Collopy. The COLLOPY family ran a grocery store in South Troy. > >4. Hanora Minahan (1846-1904) married Timothy COllOPY (9/1844-1914), Children: John Collopy b:2/1876, Mary Collopy b:5/1880, Margaret Collopy b:3/1883, William Collopy b:12/1885 It is possible Timothy Collopy and James Collopy were brothers. > >I believe Julia WADE Minahan had siblings living close by in S. Troy- possibly brothers named Michael WADE, James WADE living at 514 Second St. in 1880. In the 1880 census there is another Minehan family at 512 Second St; Edward and Mary (Gleeson) Minehan and their children as well. This Minehan family is my line for sure.
