William Badger is honored(1837-80) and he served as an officer in the Second New York Infantry Regiment and the Griswold Light Calvery during the Civil War, earning the rank of brevet rank of major general for his bravery and leadership. One of the featured speakers General James H. Lloyd talks on the National Guard of Today. He recalls a lack of preparedness at the outbreak of the Spanish American War of 1898 and fears the US is no better off today. He estimates it would take 3 months to mobilize sufficient troops to repel a Japanese invasion of the west coast.” Photo of the day Troy Record Monday March 31, 2008 1953 photo of School 16 eighth grade graduation.
