Hi Gerald. I enjoyed your email very much. I'm not related to any of the players, but my dad, Tom Diviney, grew up on Second Street in south Troy with the Evers boys. Johnny Evers was about 10 years older than dad. Dad's oldest brother, John Diviney, played on one of the Troy teams with Evers, and my dad was the bat-boy. My sons all played baseball (just at Little League and high school level) and loved to listen to dad's stories of old-time baseball. I forwarded your email on to them because I knew they'd like reading about Troy and Evers. If you have more stories about Troy and baseball, feel free to email me off-List. My brother in law, Sean McNamee, is the swim coach at St Bonaventure University, and as his dad John McNamee originally was from Troy, I sent him both the letter from Gerald and the followup which mentioned the connection to St Boanventure of Marc Evers. He wrote back: "I know Marc Evers very well. He is with Wachovia Bank in Charlotte." BTW John McNamee was a professor at St Bona's until his death in 1964. He started the swim team there back in 1948 and was a professor in the Education department. There have been 4 swim coaches at Bonas...and 3 of them McNamees :-) Jill McNamee ----- Original Message ----- From: "Theresa Bora" <terrybora@wowway.com> To: <ny-troy-irish-gensoc@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2008 7:10 AM Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Baseball players in Troy, NY > Hi Gerald.
