    1. Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Marshall Infirmary - Attention CourtneyShepard
    2. I might be wrong, but Marshall's still had people working there later than 1950. We had a puppy in 1953 that got out of the yard (I grew up on Fourth street between Madison and Monroe) he followed a woman, who worked there to work. My mother's family referred to Linden Avenue as Hoboken or the back way. My mother's Grandparents were split between South Troy and the Mt Ida area. When she saw her father's family she came down the back way. My mother grew up on Congress Street by the Farnham (my spelling might be off) Steamer, which is now a Stewards. 3. Dorothy, I was interested to read that your mother's family referred to Linden Ave as Hoboken. My mother's family did too. My mother grew up on Ida Street and would go over "Hoboken" to go ice skating at Belden's Pond on Pawling Ave. I always thought calling it Hoboken was unique to her family but apparently not. I wonder how that name came to be?? Lynn

    3. My Father's family lived on Second & VanBuren. As my father was in the military this was our "Home of Record" as we traveled around the country and around the world. South Troy was where we always came home to. I can also remember Linden Ave being called Hoboken. I also remember running like H*%# to get past Marshall's as we all KNEW it was the Crazy House or the insane asylum. -----Original Message----- From: ny-troy-irish-gensoc-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:ny-troy-irish-gensoc-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Lynn Grice Sent: Sunday, May 11, 2008 20:52 To: ms85ty@earthlink.net; ny-troy-irish-gensoc@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Marshall Infirmary - Linden Ave Dorothy, I was interested to read that your mother's family referred to Linden Ave as Hoboken.
