Friday April 11 ,, 2008Troy Record Article 100years agoSaturday April 11 ,1908 “Antonio Fornaro (reported in the Record last week as Mowroni- he is also referred to this week as Farnaro and Forano) was found sleeping under a bench by a Pittsfield policeman around 7 in the morning. At 830 the Troy police learn that Pittsfield has a man matching the description of the Troy murder suspect. At 1030 Captain Rohn of the Second Precinct boards a train for Pittsfield accompanied by Earl Green, believed capable of identifying the suspect.They arrive at 2 pm where Green makes a positive id. Antonio ? is accused of cutting the throat of Agnes Johnson. Capt Rohn and his prisoner arrive back in Troy at 7pm During the interrogation lead by District Attorney Jarvis O'Brien and police chief Morris Kirkpatrick,Antonio says after the murder Antonio walked to Albany,where he caught the train to Pittsfield. HE REACHED Pittsfield, then went to North Adams, where he stayed with Rose Funziano.Soon she left for Boston and he went back to Pittsfield.
