I have been with Vista for a few months and much preferred XP - also do you find that if you try to send something to someone with XP unless they download something onto their computer they cannot accept Vista??? Plus I am having a great amount of difficult with Excel on the new Vista. Hi Carol, I think the difficulty you are having is with Office 2007 which has implemented new formats for documents and Excel Files. There are stand-alone readers available from Microsoft for the new versions. BUT, the good news is that you can choose to continue using the Office XP (2003) formats if you so choose. This is what I have done as I am not in an working office environment. The 'File' command has been replaced by the 'Office' Circle button in the upper left hand corner of Office 2007 applications. Create a document and choose 'Save As' from the Office Button. Change the file type to 'Office 97-2003' and your friends will be able to open and modify the documents and send them back to you if need be. I think this setting will 'stick' as your default setting for file saves until you choose to change it. Do this in Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. Let me know if it does not 'stick' and I'll research further as I set this up last June and my mid-term memory fails me at present.
