He now wants Congress to make the publication of anarchist opinions a federal crime. The Record reports that two young woman who recently held jobs at a Troy collar factory were actually sociology students from New York City investigating working conditions. The students, Mabel Weeks and Eva Auerbach, recounted their adventure in an interview with the NY Evening Telegram. Auerbach worked a 10 hour shift on a stitching machine while Weeks became the target of sexual harassment(then unnamed). Weeks remembers a factory superintendent telling her:"I like your looks and I think we can make a forewoman out of you in a few days.”. Her training became an excuse for daily visits during which he became so annoying that Miss Weeks decided she could no longer endure it and quit her job, along with Auerbach, after one week. Their impression of Troy factory girls? Auberbach says they impressed her as being shiftless. They get along with as little work as they can. They are forever talking of mashes(flirting) and theater.” PS if you click on the below link it will take you to the Troy Record newspaper website.
