On the subject of Baseball in Troy, TIGS has been invited to set up an informational booth at the Bruno Stadium on 8/12/08 for their Irish Night......does anyone have any printed material concerning our Irish baseball players from the past? We could add that to our banner and indexs that we bring to this type of event. Would be great if we could get some membership attendance at the game for support and to draw some interest from the crowd.... Kris **************Wondering what's for Dinner Tonight? Funny that there is no mention here of the Lansingburgh Haymaker team that later moved to Troy to become the NL team "Troy Trojans". The Troy team was disbanded in a few years the management and most of the Troy players moved to NY city to become the NL NY Giants. The Troy Trojans are still an honorary NL team. So it can be said the seeds of the current day NL team SF Giants were originally planted in Lansingburgh NY. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Kris6851@aol.com> To: <ny-troy-irish-gensoc@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, May 14, 2008 11:42 PM Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Baseball players in Troy, NY > On the subject of Baseball in Troy, TIGS has been invited to set up an > informational booth at the Bruno Stadium on 8/12/08 for their Irish > Night......does > anyone have any printed material concerning our Irish baseball players > from > the past? I could be mistaken but I seem to remember that the Rensselaer County Historical Society had an exhibit on baseball in the area. I'd advise contacting Kathy Sheehan at RCHS to ask about available information on players from the greater Troy area. ksheehan@rchsonline.org Lynn
