    3. Hi: My grandfather lived in Troy from his birth in 1891 until 1913 when he immigrated to Montreal, Canada. Would anyone know if it's possible to: a) locate the name of the school he may have attended; or b) obtain any type of school records? He lived at 2204 Seventh Avenue in 1901, 1902 and 1903. I understand that the building no longer exists. He lived at 2260 Sixth Avenue in 1904, 1905 and 1906. I understand it is now called Old Sixth Avenue. The family was Roman Catholic. Would anyone know what Roman Catholic schools might have been in the vicinity at that time? I am assuming he would have attended a neighbourhood school. Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks. Jan.

    3. One thing you might want to explore in this area children often attended Catholic Schools that were affiliated with their ethnic idenity. Not neccessarily the one close to their home. Various churches were Irish, Polish and even German. I have a friend who went to a Catholic school in Cohoes and they spoke what she calls French - Canadian. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jan Griffiths" <jan@snowonder.ca> To: <ny-troy-irish-gensoc@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, May 08, 2008 10:58 AM Subject: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] School Records in Troy > Hi: > > My grandfather lived in Troy from his birth in 1891 until 1913 when he > immigrated to Montreal, Canada. > > Would anyone know if it's possible to: > > a) locate the name of the school he may have attended; > or > > b) obtain any type of school records? > > He lived at 2204 Seventh Avenue in 1901, 1902 and 1903.
