I just got back from Wilmington, NC, which is why I haven't responded. Before I came to an end with the Drew articles,I looked up on the Internet using various buzz words(name, place, year, the word murder etc) and came up with an interesting 1911 article in the NYTimes which referenced Hazel's death as unsolved .I tried to copy /paste it but NY times must have protected it from copying because I couldn't get it to come out right, but the jist of it was that in 1911 it was still considered an unsolved case. There was a shooting in Sand Lake in 1911 and that was the tie in to the Drew case. Your right about the forensic tools today- they probably could have done a lot more with the case had it been today.Glad you'all (that's a word heard in North Carolina a lot) enjoyed the case. They could have used CSI back then, I guess.
