Thursday August 14 ,2008Troy Record Article 100years ago Friday August 14, 1908 “George Pooley was detained after police heard a gunshot near the Boston and Maine RR Station. Pooley, a North End man who lives just outside city limits at Oakwood and Seventeenth(now 117th ) Street,was showing the newly purchased gun to a friend. He bought it for the purpose of protecting his farm. Charges of carrying a concealed weapon were dismissed since Magistrate Jones notes that there is no other way for the weapon to be delivered to the home unless someone carried it there.
