Carrington, who served as deputy to Treasurer Thomas W Hislop from 1902-1905 begins with testimony from bank officials and treasury clerks. Carrington is charged with larceny and forgery. One bank official George L. Hare of Security Trust testifies of his work on loan to the Treasury. Lewis E Griffith,defense lawyer and former judge, cross exams former treasury clerk John F. Smith., who says “ the money came in so fast there were three waste paper baskets of it piled upon a table. Tuesday Carringtons successor as deputy treasurer, Richard Lisle,describes how the new administration found the discrepancies.When the city began action against property owners for non payment of taxes, Cornelius Fonda and Edward Ryan, among others produced receipts from the treasurers office verifying they had paid their taxes. In both cases ,Lisle testifies, Carrington acknowledged that mistakes had been made in records keeping and made up the missing revenue out of his won pocket- 103.75$ for Fonda and 19.31 for Ryan. Thursday Justus H. Davis OF Albany conducted the 1906 audit on behalf of the new administration. He testifies 13,139.72 in tax payments went unrecorded. There are discrepancies- Taxpayer Garret W.
