If I am reading this right, your gr gr grandparents John and Johanna may be related to my Timothy O'Brien married to Catherine Costello. Perhaps Timothy and John were brothers??? If so you need to check out the Anacarty/Donohill area of Tipperary. My Tim and Catherine had their children around 1830's 1840's so Tim could have been the older son. They in Turn had Mary who married Phillip Ryan in 1859 and their children were also all born in Ireland during the 1860's and early 1870's. It is one of their children, Timothy Ryan who moved to Troy and was attended by a John O'Brien and William O'Brien as pall bearers at his death in 1918. I believe I may have more information I can give you on the area of Timothy O'Brien and Catherine Costello's marriage which could lead you to the Church and possible further information on your John O'Brien and Johanna Shea/Shay. I will check at home and get back to you. Is this son John buried in Troy? Do you have any birth information on him? I am about to send away for the death certificate on Timothy O'Brien in hopes it will contain further information. Thanks for your input, perhaps we can be of assistance to each other. One or both of them may have died in Ireland. I did locate a Mrs. Johanna O'Brien, housekeeper, who lived on Fourth Street in South Troy. She is buried in an unmarked grave in St. Joseph's Cemetery. She is buried there alone and she is the sole plot owner so I am unable to determine for certain if she is Johanna Shea O'Brien. Known children (all believed to be born in Ireland) were: Catherine, b. prior to 1850, married Jeremiah McNamara/Mack Johanna, b. 1850(?), married John Joseph Mangan (my great-grandparents) Dennis, b. 1852(?), married Catherine Clancy "Brother", (first name unknown), b. 18??. Wife's name unknown. 1 known son named John. ************************* This young John O'Brien (son of Brother) was most likely the fellow who served as pallbearer for his aunt, Catherine Clancy O'Brien, in 1923. The latest I find him in Troy is February, 1938 when he served as pallbearer for his first cousin, Elizabeth Mack Kelley. This particular John O'Brien was alluded to in a previous post...just wanted to clarify that he is in my O'Brien family. M.
