There was a family of O'Briens who lived next door to my in-laws on Fourth Street in Troy.I am not sure what the mother's name was but I can find out. She died in the 70's I think but her sons are around Troy. My in-laws live at 341 Fourth. One or both of them may have died in Ireland. I did locate a Mrs. Johanna O'Brien, housekeeper, who lived on Fourth Street in South Troy. She is buried in an unmarked grave in St. Joseph's Cemetery. She is buried there alone and she is the sole plot owner so I am unable to determine for certain if she is Johanna Shea O'Brien. Known children (all believed to be born in Ireland) were: Catherine, b. prior to 1850, married Jeremiah McNamara/Mack Johanna, b. 1850(?), married John Joseph Mangan (my great-grandparents) Dennis, b. 1852(?), married Catherine Clancy "Brother", (first name unknown), b. 18??. Wife's name unknown. 1 known son named John. ************************* This young John O'Brien (son of Brother) was most likely the fellow who served as pallbearer for his aunt, Catherine Clancy O'Brien, in 1923. The latest I find him in Troy is February, 1938 when he served as pallbearer for his first cousin, Elizabeth Mack Kelley. This particular John O'Brien was alluded to in a previous post...just wanted to clarify that he is in my O'Brien family. M. More Troy O'Briens (mine are from Albany and Watervliet) My great grandparents Michael and Rebecca Dolan O'Neil and their remaining children, my grandfather William and his sisters Mary and Sally, lived at 184 Fifth Avenue according to the 1900 Census. Their next door neighbors at 183 Fifth were the O'Briens who my mom remembered hearing about. My notes reflect that the census indicates that Mary O'Brien lived with her family at 183 Fifth Avenue in 1900. Mary was listed as head of the household and was born in Massachusetts. Her deceased husband's name was David. The other children that I have listed are Lawrence, John, Adelia (probably Amelia) and David. My notes record this last child as Daniel or David but its probably David after his father. This is the O'Brien family that my mother, who wasn't born until 1917, remembers hearing about. I don't know when Rebecca and her daughters left Fifth Avenue. I know that they were on 8th Street for a while and then followed my mother and her family to 106 Hoosick.
