None of the names listed are familiar with the exception of Johanna. I have seen it somewhere and will try to jog my memory. It was not pertinent to my search but I thought it an uncommon name for an Irish woman. I think it might have been the Canada census of 1881. Not sure...I think it was in a domicile close to a Michael Shea. I will try to find the Cohoes book in a bookstore and check the names of the Shea women whose pictures appear in that book. Many Irish came to this country through Canada. You would know if the dates cited were accurate. I found the Canada census on the family search run site by the LDS church. ----- Original Message ----- From: "M. Lynn: Johanna is a very common Irish name for a woman, it is the way it appears often in the baptismal and marriage records. It is simply the full form of Hannah. I guess that it just is not common in the investigations I have made. My family are Marys, Kathleens, Bridgets, Maureens, Patricias, and quite a few Ellens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marianne Arnold" <mamearnold@jetbroadband.com> To: <ny-troy-irish-gensoc@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 31, 2008 10:33 AM Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] My O'Briens of Troy > Lynn: Johanna is a very common Irish name for a woman, it is the way > it appears often in the baptismal and marriage records.
