Mame Faye was the Aunt of my Uncle John's wife Marion. I do not know whether on her father or mother's side because it was not something discussed at length in the family. In any case my mother always made it clear WE were not related to her. Everyone knew her by sight in Troy and I once overheard my mother tell someone (little kids have big ears) that her friend Ouida Nealon waited on Mame Faye at the Up To Date Store in Troy. She said she was very fat (Ouida weighed about 90 pounds so how fat is not clear) and as Mame Faye tried on clothes my mother's friend was outraged because she didn't have any underwear on. I think this was in the 1950's because I remember my mother's friend working there around that time. How I wish my mother was still here so I could ask questions and get the real lowdown on the really interesting history of this area.
