    3. Years ago ancestry.com was fairly inexpensive and had fewer sources. I had to write letters to courthouses and churches all over the country and drive to the National Archives here in CA-90 minutes from my home, to local LDS sites for microfilms and to cemeteries in other states, etc. etc. Genealogy sources are available thanks to zillions of hours of work by volunteers-even the copies of state or federal records. To give back I help out at my own local genealogy library even tho' my families aren't here. Now I am saving hundreds of dollars in gasoline just by subscribing to ancestry. Unless you have researched the basic way, you can't appreciate the wonder of the internet site. There is no information.without persons digging it up, indexing it and printing it. Sometimes they have to be paid or overhead costs accounted for. Marilyn Wilson
