The argument escalates until Borman grabs a liquid lamp and tosses it at his wife. The lamp misses and sails out the window, hitting a passing pedestrian on the head. The pedestrian entered the house and gave Borman a severe beating, then turned Borman over to Patrolman Thomas Bendon of the Second Precint who locked Borman up on the complaint of his wife. The top international story is the assassination attempt on the Shah of Persia(in 2008 Persia is currently called Iran). The Shah escapes the bomb thrown at his automobile because he was riding in a horse drawn carriage incognito. The Postmaster General of the United States has ordered an end to hiring boys under 18 for special delivery messengers. The postal service began hiring juveniles in 1885 and now employs over 2500 nationally, many as young as 14. The new policy is to protect teenagers from bad influences. The boys are called upon to go to low resorts and are often compelled to travel long distances at night in lonely outlying sections of the great cities."
