In School 1 the principals office is on the 3rd floor. If a fire breaks out on the first floor a messenger would have to be sent upstairs to tell the principal. To sound the alarm. In School 16 it is under construction and so has no rear exit at this time.There are no fire escapes on the second floor. The Board of Contract and Supply has ordered the city engineer to purchase fire extinguishers for all schools and direct all school janitors to conduct fire patrols.
