Eileen, Thank you so much for your nice note. Yes, Jimmy is not only my cousin, but he's my Godfather. I don't see him that often and it just so happens that he and our family are trying hard to keep in touch with each other again. He was with my Mom at her house the night of the wake and she was so glad. They're the only members of her family left. My sister had a party at "Marty Burke's" in Troy in January (you probably remember that name). Unfortunately my husband and I didn't get there. But Jimmy called me from there and gave me his phone no. We hadn't gotten together before this, but we vowed to each other at Dad's wake that we will go out some time and catch up with each other. I'm looking very forward to that. Dad was a WONDERFUL man to say the least. He always put God first, family second, and country third, and they were all VERY important to him. He will be missed so much. Thank God him and Mom (who were in love for 66 years and married for 58) brought us up in the Catholic Faith and it's been what has brought us through this difficult time. Mom's doing well, she's an amazing person. She's obviously very sad, but she's doing what she needs to and relying on Dad's strength to get her through. He actually had a stroke on 4/2, and suffered a lot in the past three months. He ended up getting pneumonia which was what he actually died from. It was so sad but so fitting, that 20 out of 26 people in the family were able to be with him in the ICU at Ellis, right till his last breath. He was very patriotic and ironically was called back to God on 7/4. He was SO proud of his family. We all loved him so very much. He had a wonderful relationship with all 6 kids, 8 grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter (who's a year and half old and LOVED him!). I know I was young when you and Jimmy were married, but I do remember your name, Eileen. Mom and Dad always talked fondly of you. Are you doing well, now? Thank you again for your message. People getting in touch with us right now like this means so much. I'll be sure to tell Mom that I heard from you and that you send your condolences. Hi Mimi, I was unable to receive or send e-mails for most of July. I posted my first message about the meeting on July 2nd and never heard a thing from anyone. It was quite a problem, but last night it all came together. I'm not sure that Brad Miter is sure what happened either, but as long as it works that's all that matters. Your salads sound great and Vince is more than welcome. I've invited Noreen to join us also. See you on Thursday. Hello, Yes I still have your email inquiring about St. Peter's Church records. I'm getting desperate about finding info from their records and don't want to wait to see if our group will be given the opportunity to copy them. I wasn't able to reach them by phone today. Do you still have their email? If so, will you please send it along. Hi Ken, The Albany Presbytery website also has a list of all current Presbyterian churches in Troy and elsewhere. They were very helpful to me when I was looking for the church records for Woodside Presbyterian Church in Troy which closed several years ago. There were several Irish immigrants who attended the church during late 1800s. The records for closed Presbyterian churches in the area apparently have been sent to the Presbyterian Church Archives in Pennsylvania. I was able to search Woodside's records at the Albany Presbytery offices on Fifth Avenue in Watervliet, NY before they were sent to the Pennsylvania archives. Sorry for referring to you previously as Kay. I left out the R in your email addy and you didn't sign your name in your original message. Hi Kris, I'm on line. I think my problem may be solved. Just sent a test message and got it back. I'm ecstatic!!! I've been away for the day, and just got back a little while ago. Sent the Test message--got it back, so I sent another reminder of the meeting. Hi Everyone, I think I made it on to the TIGS site! I have been trying since the second of July to set up our covered dish meeting at my house. I don't know if anyone has received any messages because I have not been receiving e-mail or able to send anything pertaining to the TIGS site. So, please forgive me if you have not heard anything about the meeting. I have heard from five members, and I had spoken to most of them. The July meeting of TIGS will be held on Thursday, July 17th, at 6 pm at Jan Sullivan's in Clifton Park. There will be a covered dish supper, everyone is asked to bring something for the meal such as Appetizers, Salads, Entrees, Desserts, etc.. At present we have 1 dessert, 2 fruit salads, 1 potato and 1 pasta salad, 1 entrée. Please contact me off list to let me know what you plan to bring to the meeting. At that time I will be happy to give directions to my home. Hope to hear from you very soon. Jan
