    3. Peggy, Although you stated that Adelbert Perrier was baptized in Quebec, I have checked the records of St Jean Baptiste Church in Troy for a notation. Nothing was found. If the family attended a protestant church in the Troy area when he was born in 1872, there could be some type of record there but, as Bill McGrath noted, civil registration of births did not start until several years later. Best of luck with your research, Lynn

    3. Hello Peggy: 1. New York State did not require reporting of birth/death/marriage records until 1880 and compliance with the law was not great in the early years. 2. Sugguest you try records of the French Church in Troy at the time which was St. Jean De Baptiste. All records for this church have been published and copies are in the Troy Library. Also, you can have a TIGS volunteer do a look-up in the book for you by sending an email request. Check out the TIGS website www.rootsweb.com/~nytigs/ click on RECOURCES and then click on LOOK-UPS IRISH ACTS OF KINDNESS where you will find the volunteer who has copies of St. Jean's records and who will do a look-up for you. 3. Hi Avi-   I have a couple of suggestions, if you haven't tried them already. 1. Visit the NYS Library at the Cultural Education Center in Albany. I also had ancestors that I was told "There is no record of them." at Troy City Hall.  However, I visited the above library, where they have an index of all death certificates recorded on microfiche, by year. I found three that Troy's clerks missed.  Mind you, this just gives you the Index number, the actual certificates have to be ordered from NYS and take several months to receive, and for a fee of course. 2. Check Troy Naturalization index on Pat Connors' site Connorsgenealogy.com. There is a special section for Troy and may help in other ways as well. The actual naturalization records are on file in the basement of the County Courthouse on Second St. in Troy. 3. If you know the names of the ancestors in Temple Beth El Cemetery, I can attempt to photo the stones for you. If they are in Yiddish, I won't make a fool of myself trying to transcribe them. In most cases the family name is in English on the stones. Email me directly. 4. Email for Temple Beth El is  [email protected]   Good luck in your search!  - Barry Considine ________________________________ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Monday, April 23, 2012 3:00 AM Subject: NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC Digest, Vol 7, Issue 77 ** NOTE ** When replying to a message in the digest please do two things: 1.  Change the 'Subject' to that of the message you are replying to. 2.  Delete all the messages above and below the one you are concerned with. 3. Don't discount any possibility. In 1948 my cousin who lived in Los Angeles was on his way to perform his stage act in Montana, fell ill and died in Salt Lake City. UT death cert, burial in CA. More recently another cousin who lived in Cheyenne, WY went to Colorado for medical treatment where he died. CO death cert, WY burial, but SSDI shows NY. 1. [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] *** Reminder - Request you shorten your TIGS messages
    2. Bradford H Miter
    3. TIGS Listers, This is a reminder to shorten up your messages to the list when Replying to another message AND to change the Subject if replying to a Digest Message. After you hit the REPLY Key, ALWAYS DELETE from the end of the most recent post TO THE END of the message. Failure to do so makes viewing in the Digest Mode unsatisfactory and in addition there is trash is thereby placed into the archives which slows down searches and wastes space on the Rootsweb servers. **************************************************************************** When we get an active Thread going on a list, the messages seem to grow and grow in length as we automatically hit the reply button to answer each other. This brings up several problems: 1. The messages can get so long that they eventually exceed the size limit (20,000 characters) that is presently set for referring them to the Administrator for approval. This feature is intended to head off huge messages (maybe Spam) that will then find their way into the Archives. 2. A number of folks on the list prefer to get a DIGEST message, usually once a day, containing all the messages for that time set into one email. This gets almost impossible to read when the messages are lengthy and contain more than the previous response and a new message from the responder. SOLUTION: When you wish to respond to message, remove any 'stuff' that is beyond that to which you are responding. These additional messages often will have >> or >>> or even more radicals preceding each line. They are easy to remove after you hit the REPLY Key: 1. Place your cursor at the start of the part you want to remove. 2. Hold down the SHIFT and CONTROL (Ctrl) Keys and then depress the END key. 3. All the data to the end of the message should now be 'Hi-lighted' - depress the DELETE Key. 4. Now go back to the top of the message, type in your reply and SEND it. The Archives will be happy, those subscribed to the digest will be pleased and so will be the Administrator. Thank you, Brad Miter TIGS List Administrator
