My grandfather, Mike Sweeney, would be so happy to know that his family lives on in our hearts through the information I have found about their lives in Troy from 1852, when they arrived from Ireland, to 1905 when they moved to Rochester. I love it. Thanks Amy LaPietra

    1. [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] TIGS Annual Elections
    2. Kris6851
    3. Well it is that time of the year again to cast a vote of confidence for the dedicated local folks who keep TIGS up and running. This year we are thrilled to announce that we have a full slate to offer, with the addition of a new name.? It is wonderful to have new folks interested in keeping TIGS one of the best genealogy groups on the web. Running for President:? Timothy Stone - Tim served as VP this past year and did a stand up job of stepping up to the plate when our President, Gerri Sherri, had to step down due to personal issues.? Tim handled both President and VP for most of the year.? Tim has been a member for some time now, has given presentations to the group and has been a fixture in helping out at the TIGS table during the Victorian Stroll.? As VP Tim arranged for other members to give presentations at monthly meetings. Running for Vice President:? Kristin Cooney-Ayotte -? I am a founding member of TIGS and have previously held the position of both President and VP.? I am happy to once more serve as VP. Running for Treasurer:? Lizette Strait - Lizette is a founding member of TIGS and she has agreed to continue the difficult job of Treasurer.? She has traveled to Ireland with the group, served as List Administrator and is always there when the group needs something. Secretary - Kelly Grimaldi - Kelly has been a member for some time now and has been a regular meeting attendee, often volunteering to record the minutes in the absence of a Secretary. ? She is the Historian for the Albany Diocesan Cemeteries and has been instrumental in securing records for transcribing for the TIGS website.? We are extremely happy that Kelly has agreed to step into this post thereby giving us a full slate of officers for the first time in several years. Lets not forget the non-elected folks that keep this group running and who dedicate a lot of their own time to TIGS;? Bill McGrath, our Project Coordinator who is in constant search of records to transcribe and get on the internet for folks searching for that elusive ancestor.? Jeanne Keefe, our Website Administrator who is there and ready when Bill gives her page after page of names, DOB's, DOD's, marriage records etc. to sort and get up on the TIGS website.? Kudos to Jeanne for producing and managing one of? the best free genealogy websites on the internet.? Donna Vaughn, our Member Chair who continues to email folks to come? to meetings, join the list and be an active participant.? Donna is the one behind our Face Book page.? Brad Miter, our List Administrator who gives his time to see that the list runs smoothly and calls for our wonderful Roll Calls that produce so much list activity. Our volunteer transcribers all over the US and even in other countries who give there time to help get vital records on the internet have continued to be so valuable to the growth of TIGS. TIGS is a volunteer organization with an option to become a Paid Member, with that in mind Paid Members are asked to cast a vote for the officers who consist of local Paid Members, membership is $10 a year.? Our treasury has been used to buy several laptops, extra hard-drives to store our projects and genealogy reference books for the Troy Public Library where they are available for all to use.? This year TIGS sponsored several gravestones for Irish Civil War Veterans in Historic St. Agnes Cemetery (information and pictures are available on the TIGS website).? We currently have over 200 list members and only 55 paid members.? PLEASE consider being a paid member and help to support your group.? PLEASE do not let the inability to use PAYPAL interfere with the work we do and what we need to continue that. Votes should be cast to Brad Miter, our List Administrator at the following e-mail address? [email protected]??? New Officers will begin their term at the June TIGS meeting. Since this is truly a Vote of Confidence with one name for each position, your e-mail will be truly appreciated to show your support. It is really nice to see new names on the list of Officers,? I think it shows our strength and growth since 9/18/03 when about a dozen folks met and shared their common interest in genealogy and TIGS was born.? A special thanks to retiring officer; Gerri Sherri, who during her short term as President gave her all to keep TIGS running smoothly.? We wish her the best of luck with all her future endeavors and look forward to her attending meetings again.? We look forward to another productive year with the support of all the List Members and all of the great volunteers on the list. Thanks To All of You Kristin Cooney-Ayotte Founding Member

    3. If you go to the government site, they also have calculators to help translate ED from 1930 to 1940. http://1940census.archives.gov/ Candis -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Bradford H Miter Sent: Wednesday, May 16, 2012 5:50 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] 1940's census help Which Census service are you using?
