    1. [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] coroner's inquest
    2. Pamela Ward
    3. What is the best way to request records for an Albany County coroner's inquest? I apparenty need info from this box: 1/1/1866 -12/31/1869 13 31 B 1 S Coroners Inquests 1866-1869 I have recently found a newspaper article from Aug 1869 regarding the death of my Great Grandmother's first husband, He was involved in a railroad accident vs horse and wagon. The article states: "The body of <Joseph> Shafer was taken to the Third Precinct Station House, where Coroner Mulligan summoned a jury, and will hold an inquiry this evening."

    1. [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] more Albany County naturalizations added online
    2. Pat Connors
    3. I have added today the naturalizations for Albany County NY for the years 1850, 1849 and 1848. As you might note, I had some naturalizations already online for 1850 but it wasn't for the full year since they were split between two films. I have now finished the first film and started the 2nd. I also added some that just said born in "Ireland" without designating a particular place in Ireland if the port they left in was given as a place in Ireland, like Cork, Galway, Limerick, Belfast, etc. These are good clues that your ancestor lived near one of these ports before emigrating. You can find them on the ALBANY COUNTY section of my website: http://www.connorsgenealogy.com/Albany/ If you have any questions, feel free to email me off or on the list. Oh, you may find some all in RED, that is because they are names associated with my family and it is to remind me to follow up on them in the censuses. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

    1. [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] Saturday 9/22 "YOU DON'T KNOW JACK" Watervliet/Cohoes Historic Societies
    2. ChristineConnell
    3. The Watervliet Historical Society and the Cohoes Spindle City Historic Society are jointly hosting a presentation on Saturday September 22nd at 1:00 PM at the Watervliet Museum. OUR LOCATION: Corner of 1st Avenue and 15th Street in Watervliet Just behind the Watervliet Public Library The title of the program is: "YOU DON'T KNOW JACK" In the persona of Jack of the Mabee Farm (from nearby Rotterdam Junction), historic re-enactor Clifford Oliver Mealy explores the who, what, why and wherefores of slavery in America. Being careful not to judge people of the past by today?s standards, Clifford Mealy brings American slavery to life in an intelligent factual presentation surely to enlighten. As a photographer for New York State?s Bureau of Historic Sites, Clifford began serious study into early African American History. It was here also that Clifford Oliver Mealy was recruited into the ranks of historic re-enacting. There is no charge for this program. All are welcome. * *

    2. ChristineConnell
    3. A fire early Thursday morning http://bit.ly/P2r2jr has closed at this hour the Rte32 bridge between Cohoes and Waterford as well as the northern part of 787. If attending the meeting tonight at Forty One restaurant (41 112th street, Troy) you might want to avoid coming through Cohoes (or at least check online for road closures). Past factory fires at the same intersection kept the bridge closed for several days.

    3. Just so others don't get confused, St. Joseph's (GI) was founded in 1897, but St. Patrick's (Wvlt) was formed in 1840 and served GI prior to the establishment of St. Joseph's. Both were consolidated into IHOM, and Mr. Hanley should be able to help. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Jaime Aulet" <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, September 17, 2012 9:33 PM To: <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [NY-TROY-IRISH-GENSOC] St. Joseph's Church on Green Island > Thank you.
