I am an on again off again TiGS supporter. I don't remember when I last paid any dues. However, I am hoping that someone can help me. Edward Clayton (1843-1904) was married or had a relationship with a Catherine E Smodell, born circa 1845 in Salinas,Herkimer County. Their first two children were born in Boston, MA and the last, Ellen Clayton (1878-1920) was born in Troy. The birth certificates for the Boston children listed the mother as noted above. Catherine E was Edward first or second "wife." He married a third time to a Margaret Burke in 1884 and had three more children, all who died very young. Edward and Margaret Burke are buried in St Peters Cem., Rensselaer, NY Here is my question. On the New York State Death Index there is listed a Catherine F Smodell who died 28 Dec 1899. There is no further information and I wonder if this could be Catherine E Smodell? Maybe there is an obit or some other information that would connect or eliminate this person. I have eliminated the following personsCatharine R Smodell (1828-1884) buried in Stillwater Union Cem., Stillwater, Saratoga County, NYCatharine Smodell Kessler (1853-1908) died in LansingburghKatharine Smodell (1857-1888) spouse of August Smodell buried in St Peters Cem, Stillwater, Saratoga CountyKathryn Smodell (1882-1907) spouse of Leo Smodell buried in St Peters Cem., Stillwater, Saratoga County One last item - Edward and Catherine's daughter, Margaret Clayton was born 15 Jun 1875 in Boston and appears on the 1880 census for Troy. No further information has been found on her. Thank you for your kind interest and help as always. Rich NicholsGreer, SC

Hi Christine, We would love to return and make another presentation to the Troy Irish Genealogy Society on Sept. 13. This past year we did the presentation entitled “Pinpointing Where Your Ancestors Lived in Ireland.” We are putting together a new presentation that we will be using in Orlando in March that focuses specifically on combining DNA matches and genealogy research to locate where your ancestors came from in Ireland and elsewhere. It is still in the planning stages, but it will be designed to be a follow-up to the presentation we did this past fall. If you and the planning committee are interested, then we will put the date on our calendar.
