He was found guilty and sent to prison for life. Michael worked at the Fire Department. George Ricker a witness for the people did not appear. The following jurors were sworn to try the case: Wm. E. Churchill Wm. H. Brooks H. Underwood Alex Culbert Peteer W. Steel H.M. Badend Ewd. Bayndon Smith Post Chas. C. Simpson John Allisson James M. Post Chauncey St. John George Ricker lived at 118 Chatham, corner of Orange Street, he kept an eating house. Charles Beekman was from Baden, Germany, Charles worked for George Ricker as a person who opened oysters. Charles was about 30 years old. George Ricker was present when Charles was killed. J.C. Gaffney lived in Pearl Street; in May he lived in Beekman Street. Patrick Blaney lived in Rosevelt Street. William Smith, age 14 lived at 104 Hester Street, he heard a man being killed at the corner of Orange and Chatham Streets. John T. Karney belonged to the Sixth Ward Police. Margaret Wheeler, lived at 130 Mulberry Street, her husband drives a carriage, she knew Michael Mulrey for five or six months. Margaret's mother lived in Thirteenth Street and Avenue A. Her mother's name was Catherine Mcgee, she was dead at this date. Delia Dennison lived in Vesey Street, she knew Michael Mulrey for two years. Delia borded with Mrs Wheeler. Thos. W. Constantine llived in City Hall Place, he knew Michael Mulrey for five or six years. He worked in the same shop with Michael. Michael was good, faithful, diligent and regular worker. James Whittley lived at 27 Rosevelt Street. Catherine Mulrey she is Michael Mulrey's mother. His father had been ded for nine years. Michael has kept the house for his mother and her four orphans, since his dad died.
