I have not followed completely the complaint about what is covered on this list, but as I understand it, there was a complaint about papers other than those in Western New York being abstracted and sent to this list. I believe the name of this list is "NY-OLD-NEWS" and that would include news from any paper in New York State and any news from papers along the border with other states dealing with areas or people in New York. I also find these postings very interesting reading. It gives us a look into the world our ancestors lived in and what was important in their day-to-day lives. I am sure not all of our ancestors originated in Western New York, they migrated there from other areas of the state or near-by states. You never know when some little item in the paper may be the key to cracking your "brick wall". My families migrated to Western New York from Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New York City, other counties in Eastern New York. They all left behind other family members.
