    3. Republican Advocate Batavia, Genesee Co., NY November 12 1830 DIED--In Le Roy, on the morning of Tuesday last, Doct. Edmund BARNES, aged 54. * REMEDIES FOR STINGS AND BRUISES. In the trials of many years, in our family, we have never found Olive Oil or Common Sweet Oil, to fail of giving immediate relief, and effecting a complete cure of poisonous stings, if gently rubbed on immediately, and continued for a short time. And for a bruise, the application of Water, as hot as can be borne, either by a wet cloth, or by immersing the part, we have always found effectual. It may be necessary to continue the application of water, and to renew the heat, for a considerable time, and to rub the swollen part softly. -Penn.
