Rochester, Monroe, NY Democrat & Chronicle Tue Oct 6, 1925 REVOLVER SHOTS FAIL TO HALT MORNING PROWLER Four revolver shots sent crashing after him in the East avenue section early this morning failed to stop a nocturnal prowler seen manipulating the side door handle of the residence of Freeman C. ALLEN, 40 Hawthorne street. Norman LAWANDT, a Whaley-Doyle uniformed operative, caught sight of the prowler and immediately gave chase. The man disregarded LAWANDT'S halting, shout and the latter opened fire. The ordinary rise and fall of the barometer will increase or decrease the pressure 2,500 pounds. ** DAILY DEATH ROLL Miss Anna Walters, Well-Known Nurse, Dies In Sister's Home Miss Anna WALTERS, for more than 10 years engaged in the nursing profession in this city, died today at the home of her sister, Mrs. William DE FIELD, at 446 Meigs street. She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. DE FIELD and Mrs. Mark BENDER and Mrs. Nicholas KROTZ of Palmerston, Canada. Born in Listowel, Canada, Miss WALTERS came to Rochester some 30 years ago. She entered the Park Avenue Hospital training school and was graduated with the first class from that school; that of 1910. Since her graduation she had been actively engaged in her profession both in the hospitals of Rochester and in private capacity. Funeral services will take place Thursday afternoon from 137 Chestnut street. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery. ** JOHN M. DOOLEY, World War Veteran, Dies After Long Illness John M. DOOLEY, a veteran of the Mexican border campaign and of the World War, died yesterday aged 28 years, after a long illness. He will have a military funeral, under the auspices of Robertshaw Post, American Legion, Thursday morning at 8:30 o'clock from the home of his sister, Mrs. Hubert H. ERDLE, 222 Gregory street, and at 9 o'clock at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Seneca Falls. Mr. DOOLEY had been employed as a traveling salesman by the American Tobacco Company. He was born in Seneca Falls but had lived most of his life in Rochester. He served on the Mexican border with Company G. Third New York Infantry, and during the World War he enlisted in the navy doing considerable sea duty aboard battleships. He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Charles C. JOHNSON and Miss Cathryn E. DOOLEY, of New York; Mrs. Henri M. GALLEN, of Forest Hills, Long Island, and Mrs. Hubert H. ERDLE, of Rochester.
