New York Times, 29 July 1907 Rev. William Ahearn Pastor of St. Gabriel's Church, East New York, Dies Suddenly The Rev. Father William Ahearn, pastor of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church in New Lots Avenue, East New York, died from acute indigestion on Saturday night. He was taken suddenly ill at Curley's Hotel, Rockaway Beach, and died within three hours. The funeral will take place on Wednesday with a solemn high mass of requiem in St. Gabriel's Church. The interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Father Ahearn was born in Brooklyn in 1860 and took his theological course at All Hallows Seminary, Dublin. On June 8, 1883, he was ordained by Bishop Powers and went to St. John's, Newfoundland. He taught in a seminary there for some time.
