Collins Dead Mr St. John Mills Killed Robert Lawson of Baltimore Dies Joshua Shaw Shot Article Text: Shot at Havanna, on August 16, 1851, Sergeant E. T. Colllins, Jr., son of the late Major Erasmus T. Collins, of La Grange, and the brother-in-law of H. Hulbert, Esq. Sergeant Collins was a native of Williamson County,in this state. He was 22 years old. At the age of 17 he was prevented from enlisting in the Mexican war, only by the earnest entreaties and commands of his father, then living. he joined the expedition under General Lopez at new Orleans. ********************* Mr St Johon Mills of this village was killed on the railroad this morning at Wellsville, Alleghany county. He was walking on the track, when the cars came up, jaming him between the cars and platform. He leaves a wife and family. ******************** Philadelphia, Thursday October 16, 1851 A letter from Burlington, New Jersey dictated by Joshua Shaw, the admired landscape painter detailing an unfortunate accident which occurred to him a few days ago. He was on a gunning execursion with a friend, and while in the bushes, received the contents of a fowling piece in his face. Two shots entered his right eye, and his other was badly injured.
