A Persevering Suitor Pleads Too Often and Loses His Life. Article Text: New York, May 19.--Rosanna ROSITTA, wife of an Italian dock laborer, stabbed to the heart this morning Gillarde W. GINDICE, who had been a boarder at her house. The tragedy occurred in the top floor of the six-story tenement, 14 Monroe street. The boarder died soon afterward at the Governeur Hospital. When ROSITTA went to work this morning GINDICE, who boarded with him, was still in bed and pretended to be sleeping. As soon as the husband went out he arose, and, finding himself alone with the woman, asked her to elope with him. Mrs. ROSITTA ordered the fellow out of the room, and then fled to the kitchen. He followed, and the people in the house heard loud talking. Then they heard a scuffle, followed by a scream. Next came the sound of a heavy fall and Mrs. ROSSITA flung the door open. In her hand she held a dagger, made from the sharp end of a bayonet, with twisted rope wound around for a handle. It was red with blood that dripped from the sharp point to the floor. "I have stabbed him," she said. The dagger had been driven to the heart of the man. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NY-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
