The Archer was cut in two and sunk in 15 feet of water. All persons on the lower deck were drowned, including 10 of the deck hands. Benedict had obtained a welcome and residence in the family of Mr. John N. Genin by telling him he (Benedict) was a Hungarian refugee. Benedict is in fact an Austrian.
