He never recovered from a bullet wound he received at the hands of a burglar about 15 years ago. DUGGAN was occasionally taken ill as the result of the shooting. A stomach disorder developed and he was put on duty in the Wallabout Market where he remained until a few months ago, when ill health obliged him to give up. [Transcriber’s Note: New York’s Wallabout Market was Brooklyn’s largest wholesale market and one of the largest markets in the world. There vendors would sell everything from tapestries to fresh vegetables. It was located on property adjacent to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and was demolished in the early 1940’s to allow the Navy Yard to expand.] ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NY-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
